Pride was tinged with sadness as the Team GB men’s curlers lost out in Sochi.
Forfar Indoor Sports was packed with fans to cheer on local hero Greg Drummond, who trained at the club as a youngster.
With the bar area and TV decked out in union flag bunting, the excitement was palpable as people gathered to watch the spectacle.
Residents were joined by curlers from Germany and Canada who are in Angus to take part in a curling tournament.
The first few ends were tense but any anxiety gradually dissipated after the Canadians took a stranglehold on the game.
The audience still watched on in hope of a remarkable turnaround, throwing up cheers in support of the Brits, but the golden dream died as Canada triumphed 9-3.
The silver lining was still there for those who turned up to see one of their own compete at the highest stage, and Champagne glasses were raised to toast Greg and the team, who became the first British men’s curling team to win a medal at the games since 1924.
Forfar Indoor Sports owner Mike Ferguson gave a rousing speech at the end of the game to commend Greg’s efforts on the ice and said the red carpet will be rolled out for the 25-year-old on his return to Angus.
