A drink driver was three times over the legal limit when he mounted a pavement killed a Dutch tourist the day he arrived in Scotland, a court has heard.
Eduard Goudsblom died after being hit by Stewart Williamson’s car in Pitlochry on April 6 last year.
The 70-year-old was leaving the Moulin Hotel with a friend at around midnight when he was struck by Williamson’s Ford Galaxy after it had collided with the rear bumper of another car and mounted the pavement.
Mr Goudsblom was hit by the bonnet and windscreen of the car before being thrown onto the road and dragged underneath the vehicle.
A post-mortem showed the victim suffered injuries to his head, neck, back and pelvis as a result of the incident.
Appearing at the High Court in Edinburgh, Williamson admitted causing the death of Mr Goudsblom by driving dangerously while under the influence of alcohol.
He will be sentenced next month.
