The mother of a Perth woman who died after suffering an asthma attack held an “emotional” evening in her memory.
Linda Macdonald, 58, and her husband Ron, 67, organised a celebration of their daughter Lydia’s life at the Salutation Hotel in Perth on Friday night, the goal of which was to remember the 28-year-old who died in June in her flat on Lickley Road and to raise funds for charity.
Her three-year-old son Mason stayed by her side for several days before his mother’s body was discovered.
Since then there has been a concerted campaign, under the banner of Team Mason, to raise money for the toddler.
The party raised money for Asthma Research UK.
On Facebook Linda said: “We had a great night at Oor Lydia’s Perty in The Toon. We raised an amazing £650 and may have more coming in.
“We enjoyed every minute, but it did get a bit emotional from time to time.”
She continued: “We miss Lydia so much. We feel like we are dreaming and will wake up soon.
“I know she was here I felt her. She will be helping us all from heaven to raise asthma awareness and shining her love on everyone.
“The more people that know to take asthma more seriously the better, and realise it is life threatening.
“We might be sad and lost without Lydia, but that does not stop us caring for the world and the beautiful people in it.”
Mason is now living with his grandparents. His father died when he was just eight months old.
