Marathon Oil is investigating the cause of the leak on the Brae Alpha installation about 155 miles north-east of Aberdeen. The platform was shut down at about 4.35pm on Boxing Day. A company spokesman said: “The safety and welfare of our workforce is our first priority and all personnel on board are safe and accounted for. “The situation is under investigation and the relevant authorities have been notified.”
