Officers from the SSPCA had attempted to coax the frightened animal back to its field, but called for assistance after attempts failed. Crews from the town used bolt cutters to carefully extricate the horse from the fence as a veterinarian stood by. Scottish Fire and Rescue said their firefighters had been called to Sunningdale Lane at around 6.45pm. “Thankfully it looks like there has been a happy ending,” a spokeswoman said. Elsewhere in Fife, fire took hold of a derelict building in Grange Road, St Andrews this evening. Flames broke out on the ground floor of the empty three-storey Grange House at around 6.15pm. Firefighters remained on the scene for around two hours, extinguishing the blaze and checking upper floors for fire spread. The cause of the fire is unknown.
