The search for a missing Mearns mum will continue this weekend as hopes fade for her being found alive.
Shona Johnston, 35, was last seen in Stonehaven at 1pm on Tuesday and her black Nissan X Trail was found parked at Dunnottar Castle three hours later.
Despite a major land, air and sea search spanning north of the castle to Catterline, no trace of her has been found.
The expansive coastal search of the Dunnottar area drew to a close yesterday with police keeping her family up to date with developments.
The focus will now move to the land north and south of Dunnottar Castle today and Sunday. A review will then be undertaken by the police on Monday.
Mrs Johnston, who has two young daughters, moved from her native Orkney to Drumlithie five months ago to be with her husband Graham, who works in the oil industry.
Mrs Johnston is about 5ft 6in and slim with short brown hair and was wearing a green fleece, jeans and ankle boots when she was last seen.
