The Finnish ambassador to the UK has visited Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce to hear about the £1 billion Dundee waterfront regeneration.
Pekka Huhtaniemi held talks with the chamberat City Quay and was enthralled by the latest fly-through presentation of the V&A Dundee Design Museum.
Accompanied by his wife Liisa and Finland Honorary Consul in Dundee Alasdair Chalmers, managing director of DP&L Group Ltd, Mr Huhtaniemi asked many questions about the distinctive Kengo Kuma design of the building and its expected economic impact on Dundee.
The V&A Dundee presentation was delivered by Sarah Saunders, head of learning and engagement at the V&A, who also shared her passion for Finnish and Nordic design with the ambassador.
Chamber vice-president David Valentine said: “It was a pleasure to meet Ambassador Huthtaniemi and to discuss the potential for tourism, cultural exchange and international trade between Finland and the north east of Scotland.
“Our small countries have much in common and the potential to do more business together for economic benefit,” he added.
The V&A, which on Friday received £9.4 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund, now has £31.1m of its funding in place and is just £14m short of its total.
