Fire crews have been tackling a blaze at a flat in Arbroath. A blaze broke out in a ground-floor flat in the town’s Warddykes Avenue shortly before noon. The fire started in a living room and three appliances raced to the scene after the alarm was raised. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a jet and two hosereels to bring the blaze under control. Five people were checked over at the scene but they did not require to be taken to hospital. The building remains under cordon awaiting the arrival of police and fire investigators to determine the cause. A joint police and fire investigation is to be carried out to determine the cause of the blaze
