Morton v Dundee: Brown warns hosts are down but ‘dangerous’

Cappielow Park.
Cappielow Park.

Morton may be propping up the Championship table and have only won once in their last 10 matches but Dundee boss John Brown will definitely not be taking anything for granted when his side travel to Cappielow on Saturday.

The Greenock outfit’s dismal run of form cost manager Allan Moore his job last month and development coach David Hopkin is in temporary charge.

Despite that, Brown has warned his players to be wary of the threat posed by a side who memorably dumped Celtic out of the League Cup back in September.

Brown said: “Morton will be dangerous opponents. They might be bottom of the table just now but will be eager to do something about that.

“We’ve got to make sure we’re ready to match them in terms of effort and commitment because it promises to be a very tough 90 minutes.

“We beat Morton earlier in the season at Dens but there wasn’t a lot in it that day and it could be much the same on Saturday.”

Meanwhile, Dens youngster James Thomson has joined Jamie Reid in going out on loan.

Reid was snapped up by Montrose boss Stuart Garden on Wednesday and now 19-year-old defender Thomson, who has skippered the Dundee reserves this season, will be heading for Methil and Gary Naysmith’s East Fife.
