A leading Fife official has called on the Scottish Government to clarify when restrictions on HGVs crossing the Forth Road Bridge are to be lifted.
Lesley Laird, the local authority’s depute leader, has called on Transport Minister Derek McKay to state when lorries can once again use the crossing following emergency repair work last month.
It comes after The Courier revealed fears for the health of people in Rosyth, where HGVs are being re-routed towards the Kincardine Bridge while restrictions are in place.
In a letter to Mr McKay, Mrs Laird says: “The HGV community are still facing uncertainty, that’s why I’m calling on the minister to provide clarity in relation to the reopening of the Forth Road Bridge for HGVs.
“With the Forth Bridge already open to traffic other than HGVs, it seems completely reasonable that the business community in Fife and beyond should get some form of update.”
