Plans announced for 300 affordable homes to rent in Dundee

Plans have been announced to build more than 300 affordable homes for rent in Dundee.

Housing convener John Alexander revealed the figures after the Scottish Government decision to make a further £6.3 million available for affordable housing in 2015-16.

He said: “It means we can keep up the rapid pace of regeneration currently well underway in Lochee, Whitfield, Mill o’ Mains and the Hilltown beyond 2015 for another four years.

“This subsidy allows us to start detailed planning for building more new council homes and lets our partners in the registered social landlord sector increase their programmes of new build.

“We will now be working with the Scottish Government and our partners to get into the nitty-gritty of these new housing developments.”
