Police in Fife are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault at a Kirkcaldy nightclub.
The incident happened around 1am on Saturday morning within the smoking area of the Society venue in Charlotte Street.
An 18-year-old man suffered injuries to his face after being subjected to what police described as an unprovoked attack, and he was taken to the Victoria Hospital for treatment.
Local officers are now trying to trace whoever was responsible and are asking anyone who can assist with their inquiries to come forward.
Constable Sam Girdwood, from the Community Investigation Unit, said: “At this time we do not know who many attackers were involved, but we believe a glass or glass bottle was used during this assault.
“Another male also sustained minor injuries during the disturbance.
“We would ask that anyone who was within the Society nightclub on Friday evening into Saturday morning and witnessed this incident contacts police immediately.
“Similarly, anyone with information that is relevant to this inquiry is also asked to get in touch.”
Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101 or alternatively the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
