The youngster was on the A71 in West Calder, West Lothian, when she was struck by the vehicle at around 6.10pm on Saturday. Emergency services were called to the scene, at Burngrange Cottages, following the collision. Police Scotland said paramedics from the Scottish Ambulance Service provided medical care to the girl, who had sustained serious head injuries. She was taken to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh where she died last night. A police spokesman said: “Inquiries are ongoing into the full circumstances of this incident. A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.”
