A school for people with autism is seeking funds for a new £150,000 playground.
New Struan School in Alloa is for pupils on the autism spectrum and serves children from across Scotland including Perthshire, Fife and Angus.
The school, which opened in 2005, takes account of the difficulties arising from autism.
Head teacher Jasmine Miller said: “For our pupils a new playground would mean more equipment to engage with and opportunities to reinforce skills learnt in the classroom.
Plans for the new playground include zoned areas similar to those in the school because knowing that a particular type of play is undertaken in a specific area can enhance a pupils experience and reduce levels of anxiety.
Planned features include play items, outdoor musical instruments, sensory equipment and a storytelling corner.
Mrs Miller said: “The pupils, parents and staff were asked what they would like to see in the new playground and it would be terrific if people could donate so that this can be realised.
“The total cost of the work to be carried out is £147,739. We have already raised £42,937 with a further £15,000 pledged.
“A lot of work has already taken place to raise money, but there is still a long way to go.”
