East Fife face toughest test in league Two

East Fife will need to do what no other League Two side has achieved this season if they are to go back to the top of the table today – defeat Elgin on their own pitch.

Manager Gary Naysmith said: “We are heading into a real Highland stronghold.

“Elgin have had 10 wins, two draws and no defeats at Borough Briggs this season. They have only lost six goals there as well and that is a terrific record in a league as competitive as this one.

“Winning will be tough but that is what we will set out to do.”

The Bayview side go into the game after a 3-0 defeat from Queen’s Park last Saturday ended a seven-game undefeated run.

Naysmith added: “There was no need for a lot of deep analysis after that result as it is case of simply getting back to what we were doing in the games leading up to Hampden.

“We had a chat with the players on Saturday and went over one or two things on Tuesday night before we played Edinburgh City in a friendly.

“We had been on a wonderful run but perhaps the defeat will do us some good in the sense that it showed that we still have a bit to learn.

“It has allowed us to re-focus and we know that the prize for winning at Elgin is a good one in that we go back to the top of the table. Overall we are in a good position so we can go up there and be positive.”

Stevie Campbell is over the eye injury he picked up early at Hampden and that gives Naysmith a full squad to choose from.
