The ‘Ronny Roar’ for Frank’s Law has sparked a frantic rush for campaign t-shirts in green and white hoops.
Celtic supporters have been requesting t-shirts in the club’s colours after Ronny Deila lent his famous roar to the Courier-backed fight for Frank’s Law to end an injustice to dementia sufferers.
We told this week how the Parkhead boss posed with a Frank’s Law t-shirt and also passed on his best wishes to Dundee United legend Frank Kopel’s widow Amanda and her family.
A Frank’s Law spokesman said: “We have been absolutely amazed at the response we have received through Ronny’s support.
“Celtic supporters have been in touch asking if they can buy a Frank’s Law t-shirt in green and white.
“Also other supporters from other clubs including Dundee have been requesting a t-shirt in their club colours which we will of course do. We are currently arranging the printing of t-shirts in all club colours for those who are requesting them. It just shows what can happen when the football family unites behind a cause.”
Mrs Kopel’s husband Frank died in April last year having been diagnosed with dementia in 2009, when he was aged just 59.
He and his wife paid about £300 a week so he could have personal care in his Kirriemuir home because he did not reach the qualifying age for free services until weeks before his death.
Mrs Kopel is urging ministers to close the loophole a bid The Courier is backing.
Celtic fans have already given their support to the fight for Frank’s Law during the League Cup Final at Hampden in March.
Mrs Kopel attended the final where 50,000 people Dundee Utd fans, Celtic fans and neutral supporters applauded in the third minute in support for Frank’s Law.
She described the applause as “very humbling” and tears started to flow when she heard the fans chanting her husband’s name.
Fans of both Celtic and United stood together for a minute’s applause in the third minute of the game at Hampden in March for the Tannadice great who wore the number three jersey during his career.
The tangerine and black Frank’s Law t-shirts are now on sale at the Westmuir Shop, Kirriemuir, Ayaz and Hira at the Post Office in Kirriemuir and at Duncan’s in Kirriemuir.
