High Street in Rattray shut for repairs

High Street in Rattray shut for repairs

Emergency repair work on Rattray’s High Street at its junction with Hatton Road will see it stay shut most of this week to motorists.

The repairs are taking place after a sewer was damaged during the course of resurfacing work along the route.

Staff from Scottish Water and Tayside Contracts are on site as part of efforts to reopen the road.

Scottish Water is working to remove a blocked pipe and construct a new manhole cover, which is more than 16ft below the ground and staff will be working 12-hour shifts over the next few days.

Due to the nature of the repairs, which will involve heavy trench-shoring work, the road will remain closed for most of the week.

The public are being advised once the work by Scottish Water is completed, a crew from Tayside Contracts will complete resurfacing and install two wheelchair access points at the junction with Hatton Road.

A spokesman from Perth and Kinross Council said: “The council understands the road closure is causing inconvenience to motorists and public transport users and we apologise for this.

“We thank people for their continued patience while these essential repairs are carried out.

“We would reassure people we are working very hard to resolve these unforeseen problems, so the closures can be lifted as soon as possible.”
