The decades were rolled back at Kirkcaldy Galleries on Friday. Jimmy Sinclair, who at 103 years old remembered the opening ceremony, was guest of honour as the cultural centre celebrated its 90th anniversary. Meanwhile, a Fife landmark joins the ranks of octogenarians on Monday. That is a special day in the life of Methil library and municipal office, marking the 80th anniversary of its opening. The town’s original library opened its doors on July 11 1925 in a small room on the ground floor of the Gaiety Buildings, now known as the Venue. After a decade, the needs of the community meant the library outgrew that space and so relocated to a new purpose-built home which still stands today. The library has undergone many changes in the last 80 years, not least the introduction of the local office in 2011.
