Fife Flyers playcaller Todd Dutiaume believes the midweek home win over Cardiff Devils could be a pivotal moment for the club.
More than 1,700 fans roared their delight at the end of the game when Fife emerged with a 3-1 victory.
Now Edinburgh provide the next challenge when Fife travel to Murrayfield on Sunday.
Dutiaume, whose side have 50 points 26 more than the Capitals said: “The Cardiff result proves we can compete (with the best) and this was a great way to start what will be a tough month.”
Meanwhile Dundee Stars’ coach Marc Lefebvre travels to play former side Sheffield Steelers on Saturday night.
Stars slipped to seventh in the Elite league after Flyers’ win over Cardiff.
Reigning champions Sheffield have switched the game from the Arena to the much-smaller Ice Sheffield.
Lefebvre said: “We’re also looking for points, and it helps to be playing at the smaller venue which is like ours in Dundee.
“Playing down there is always hard.
“We have Sheffield then we’re back home on Sunday to play Manchester Storm in a Gardiner Conference game.”
Dundee Tigers have centre stage in Tayside tonight (7.30pm) when they complete their Scottish National League season against Edinburgh Capitals.
