Hundreds of people are expected to descend on Kirkcaldy’s new swimming pool, which opens its doors on Monday.
The £15.3 million centre, around six years in the making, is expected to revolutionise local attitudes to healthy living after extra funding was provided to integrate indoor sports courts alongside the pool a first for the town.
A 25-metre, six-lane swimming pool sits alongside a 16.67m training pool with movable floor.
There is also a health suite, fitness studio and 60-station gym.
Councillor Neil Crooks, chairman of the Kirkcaldy area committee, said that the new pool was an exciting addition to the town.
He said: “It’s not just a replacement swimming pool, it also has a fantastic range of much-needed dryside facilities for the town. I look forward to seeing the community’s reaction to the new pool, aerobics studio, sports hall and fitness suite.”
Ed Watson, chief executive of operators Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, said: “We are very hopeful that the local residents will be impressed with the quality and choice available at their new centre.”
