Well-known Montrose shop keeper Harash Jain has died at the age of 81.
Mr Jain, known locally as General Supply Store owner “Jonny”, was born in India on September 21 1932.
He died at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee after battling a liver infection.
He was described by his family as a happy, hardworking man.
Mr Jain moved to Montrose with his wife, Narinder, better known by locals as Nirmal, in the early 1950s.
The couple had two children, Pamela and the late Angus, who died in 1994, and two grand-children to Pamela and son-in-law Sanjiv Rohan, 24, and Karan, 17.
Mr Jain became a well-known face in Montrose through his work at the General Supply Store.
The original store was opened in the early 1960s and the Bridge Street establishment opened in 1965.
People from all over the country travelled to the shop as Mr Jain was able to supply particularly large sizes of boiler suits, work boots and various other items.
The General Supply Store also supplied many of the local firms in the town, including GSK and the workmen at the harbour, with work items over the years.
Mr Jain’s life could not have been fulfilled without all the great and generous people around him.
His family said he was a “ray of sunshine” and was a man who was always smiling and thoroughly enjoyed his work.
The funeral will take place on Friday at 3.30pm at the Park Grove in Friockheim and all who wish to attend are welcome.
The family said they wish to thank everyone for their support.
