Floorboards arrive at Malmaison hotel as repair work continues

Works are continuing to repair Dundee’s new Malmaison hotel after flood damage, with new floorboards arriving at the site.
The boutique hotel had been due to open on December 1 2013, before flooding damaged a number of rooms, the lobby and brasserie.
The damage caused forced the cancellation of hundreds of Christmas bookings and left some customers disappointed.
Floorboards could be seen at the site as contractors work to make the building fit for opening, which will now not be until at least the end of this month.
Scaffolding returned to the outside of the building before Christmas, with the scale of the remedial works suggesting that more than just stripping out and drying has been required.
Malmaison took out a 35-year lease on the former Tay Hotel with the option of a further 35 years. Interserve, the support services and construction group, won the £7 million main contract to refurbish the building.
