Gerard Kelly, 62, died in hospital after the accident in Woggle Road, between Blackburn and Westhill, at around 4pm on Wednesday. No other vehicles were involved but a number of motorists stopped at the scene to help Mr Kelly before emergency services arrived. Police are appealing for any witnesses to the crash to contact them. Inspector Jon Barron said: “At this very sad time, my thoughts are very much with Mr Kelly’s family, friends and colleagues. “A number of motorists stopped at the scene to render assistance and administer first aid. I would like to thank them for doing their utmost to help.”
