A woman whose daughter nearly drowned in a Dundee pool has accepted that it was a “freak accident” after speaking to the operators.
Linda Findlay’s nine-year-old daughter Georgie was pulled from Olympia leisure pool after getting into difficulties on Saturday.
She had to be rescued from the water and given mouth-to-mouth by fellow pool user Stephen Goligher and chest compressions by lifeguards.
Georgie has since made a full recovery.
An investigation launched in the wake of the incident has now concluded.
Linda said: “I am happy that everything is resolved and we can draw a line under it and just chalk it up to an accident.
“I had asked to see the CCTV but the manager said that he couldn’t do that because of all the other children who were swimming in the pool at the same time which I thought was fair enough.
“He phoned me and talked me through everything that happened on the CCTV.
“It was just a freak accident Georgie was swimming under water and she held her breath too long and ended up breathing in water.
“It all happened quickly and the lifeguards were watching her the whole time.
“The manager said that you could see her feet moving underwater and as soon as her feet stopped moving, the lifeguards ran out towards her.
“He did say that they were carrying out a review into the footwear that the lifeguards wear because they were slipping about on the tiles.
“But they did do everything they could.
“I just want to thank all of the staff at Olympia, and Stephen too, because without him it could have been much worse.”
