Airline CityJet says it is “committed” to its Dundee to London City service after confirming the route is to be subject to a scheduling cut.
The carrier said the changes were the result of one of its regular schedule reviews and had been made following “full and thorough consultation and transparency” with Dundee Airport.
It also stressed it wanted to encourage the people of Tayside to support a “key link” between Dundee and London.
“CityJet, in common with many carriers, constantly reviews its schedules based on a number of factors, including aircraft availability, crew availability and expected demand,” a spokeswoman said.
“CityJet remains committed to its route from Dundee, ensuring that customers can still arrive in the heart of London for morning meetings and enjoy a full business day.”
The changes, which come into force on October 27, create a uniform weekday schedule with departures from Dundee at 8.20am and 6.25pm and return flights leaving London City at 10.30am and 8.25pm five days a week.
Weekend services remain unchanged, with one flight each way on both Saturday and Sunday.
There has been an angry reaction to news of the changes, with high-profile airport user Lorraine Kelly accusing the firm of “shortsightedness”.
