Bottles of alcohol worth more than £800 have been stolen from a shop in Anstruther.
Police are looking to trace a group of people after the theft, which took place at around 3.30pm on Saturday.
Police believe that a man and woman entered the Co-operative supermarket on St Andrews Road and went to the shop’s drinks aisle.
They then passed bottles of spirits to an unknown number of accomplices, who walked out of the shop undetected.
Police are carrying out inquiries in an effort to trace all of those involved and are appealing for the assistance of the public.
The man seen in the store is described as being in his mid to late 40s, has dark receding hair and was wearing dark clothing.
Officers also want to trace the woman, who is believed to be in her early 30s, has blonde hair and wore a parka-style jacket with pink trainers.
Sergeant Susan Cook, who is based at St Andrews police station, said: “This was a brazen theft that resulted in a significant amount of alcohol being stolen from this store.
“I’d be interested to hear from anyone who has information in relation to this incident or who has recently been approached to buy alcohol in the Anstruther area.”
Those with information are asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or anonymously through the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
