Scone Palace to Enlighten visitors with illuminated display

Hundreds of people are expected to flock to Perthshire to enjoy the spectacle of Scotland’s largest illuminated display.
Taking place at Scone Palace, the two-day Enlighten event will see a number of images, including a giant peacock, projected on to the historic building.
The Moot Hill, once the crowning place of kings, will be transformed into a cinema, while the palace itself will be completely candlelit.
Enlighten is supported by EventScotland, Perth and Kinross Council and Forestry Commission Scotland, and it is hoped that it will provide a much-needed boost to tourism at a traditionally quiet time of year.
Organiser Gerry Muldoon, of GM Events, revealed that he is confident that it could become an annual event.
He said: “In addition to the economic benefit, accommodation providers have reported a surge in bookings over the two days, including quite a number of couples who are choosing to celebrate Valentine’s Day somewhat differently this year.”
Enlighten takes place on February 14 and 15 from 5pm until 9.30pm. Tickets cost £12 for adults, £9 for concessions and £6 for children.
