Lochee Sports Bar publican fined £10,000 for not having Sky Sports licence

A Dundee publican has been fined £10,000 plus legal costs after showing Sky Sports in his bar without a licence.

George Stark of the Lochee Sports Bar has also been ordered to take out advertising publicising the ruling.

Alison Dolan, deputy managing director at Sky Business, said: “We’re committed to protecting Sky customers who are unfairly losing business due to this illegal activity.

“These cases demonstrate the seriousness of fraudulently screening TV programmes through the large penalty applied, but also through the order to fund advertising, which we hope will help to highlight the consequences of televising Sky’s content illegally.”
