Sir Menzies Campbell has made a sensational return to frontline politics to head up a Scottish campaign to keep the UK in the EU.
The former Fife MP and leader of the Liberal Democrats vows to steer clear of “Project Fear” tactics with an “unremitting and unashamedly positive case” for staying in the bloc.
He is leading the campaign in Scotland for European Movement, which bills itself as a grassroots and cross-party movement to champion the union’s virtues.
“The peace, stability and prosperity that the EU has brought to Scotland through our membership is to be absolutely cherished,” said Sir Menzies.
“Over the next few months we will put forward an unremitting and unashamedly positive case for our continued EU membership, ensuring that everyone can see the ‘big picture’ of the advantages our membership brings.”
Scotland Stronger in Europe, which is the Scottish arm of the UK group, launched last month with Prof Mona Siddiqui at the helm.
The Out campaign includes Leave.EU, Vote Leave and Grassroots Out.
