Fife couple jailed after young girl is severely burned in bath time horror

A Fife couple have been jailed after a young girl suffered severe burns when she was placed in a bath of scalding hot water.

Christine Downie, 30, was jailed for 28 months after admitting placing the girl in the bath and not taking her for medical attention until the following day.

Her partner Steven Scott, was jailed for 10 months for his part in the incident, which occurred in the couple’s West Fife home.

Sheriff Craig McSherry said the evidence suggested the incident was deliberate and told the pair they are “unsuitable” people to be caring for any child.
