Crowds are expected to camp out overnight this weekend but they are not queuing for T in the Park, rather the first homes in the long-awaited Western Gateway.
Homes in Dykes of Gray, which are due to be built this summer, start to go on sale on Saturday and demand is expected to be huge.
In a city which is growing fast with projects like the Waterfront, a housing development of this size 650 homes in total is proving popular, according to Springfield.
The firm is even to lay on catering, offering coffee and rolls to those camping overnight before the sale office opens on site at 10 on Saturday.
Sales director Tricia Malek said the response has been “amazing” with 560 people already expressing an interest.
She said: “Five-hundred-and-sixty people is a lot and what surprised us the most is the determination of some people to make sure they are at the front of the queue.
“We are expecting a lot of people at the site on Saturday. The response has just been amazing.”
A range of homes, starting at £205,000 for a semi-detached home, to £366,000 for a five-bedroom house make up the village.
Ms Malek said: “There’s a lot happening in Dundee and people are aware of that. We have people looking to move within Dundee but also those looking at moving into Dundee.
“The first release is going to be family homes with three, four and five bedrooms.”
The plans for the village on the outskirts of Dundee have been much anticipated despite a council setback which saw half the development refused last year.
The decision was later overturned when the company submitted a revised application detailing more of its plans for potential community facilities.
Ms Malek added: “There isn’t really a supply of family homes of this kind of quality on the market at the moment.
“This development has come along at the right time with the right properties.”
She said catering would be available to house hunters on Saturday morning from 8am to 10am.
Although deposits can be placed on the first 12 homes, it will also be possible for people to make a reservation for other homes on the plan which will allow them to be the first to be offered the homes when they are released.
The next release of homes is likely to take place within the next few weeks.
