Thousands of pounds of benefits defrauded by Dundee woman

A woman who committed benefit fraud was ordered to complete unpaid work as a punishment yesterday.

Elizabeth Jane Dewar, 68, Brownhill Place, Dundee, claimed £5,912.73 in housing benefit while she was in employment between December 8 2008 and July 26 last year.

At Dundee Sheriff Court yesterday she was sentenced to a community payback order which requires her to complete 180 hours of unpaid work in the community.

The work must be completed within six months.
