Glenrothes moved into second spot in BT Caledonia Division One with a 40-32 win in a keenly contested Fife derby at Dunfermline.
The hosts led 20-10 at half- time after Scott Gracie and Liam Quarm touched down while Adam Fraser was on target with both conversions as well as two penalties, with the response from Glenrothes coming in the form of tries by Aaron Campbell and Kris Glen.
The visitors raised the pace in the second period and their pressure eventually paid off.
Tries by Kurt Strachan, Shaun Gray and Steven Varney overturned the half-time deficit and gave Glenrothes all five league points, with Strachan also kicking two penalties and three conversions before signing off with a drop goal that gave him a full house of scoring methods.
Dunfie were left ruing a loss of discipline that saw them lose a player to the sin bin in the first half then have prop Martin Punter red carded in the second.
However, they deservedly took a four-try bonus after Liam Quarm and Danny Clarke touched down, while Fraser added another conversion.
Carnoustie progressed in the BT Shield with a comfortable 61-8 win at home to Moray in a tie rescheduled from last month.

In the day’s other rearranged shield match, Alloa came within seconds of knocking out high-flying Gordonians, the table toppers in Caledonia Division One, at Earlsfield before losing 32-28.
In Division Two, Panmure opened their account for the season with a 36-15 win at home to Kinross, moving the Broughty Ferry men out of the bottom two.
Falkirk seconds extended their unblemished start to the campaign to three matches when they won 52-22 away to Crieff & Strathearn.
