Biker’s nightmares over his role in fatal accident
ByRichard Watt
A man whose best friend was killed in a high-speed bike accident in Angus said he remains plagued by nightmares over his role in the crash.
Mark Aitchison, from Dundee, was jailed for 18 months for his part in the build-up to 28-year-old father-of-one James Bryson’s death.
Forfar Sheriff Court heard the 22-year-old had already been banned from driving “on a number of occasions” and never held a full licence.
Despite this, he and Mr Bryson also from Dundee took their high-powered Kawasakis into Arbroath, reaching speeds of 60 to 70mph in a residential street. Mr Bryson hit a Toyota Yaris car and died from his injuries.
Sheriff Simon Collins stressed Aitchison was not responsible for Mr Bryson’s death.
He pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and was banned from the road for 12 years.
