Dundee star Paul McGowan faces a potential jail term after pleading guilty to kicking a police officer.
The 27 year-old, from Airdire, lashed out at an officer less than 24 hours after he played in the Dens Park side’s 2-1 defeat to Celtic Park last November.
It is the third time McGowan has been convicted of police assault.
The midfielder pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner. He also admitted assaulting PC Jamie White, kicking him on the body, at Coatbridge Police Office on November 23.
McGowan who began his career with Celtic and also played for St Mirren denied resisting arrest and obstructing and hindering five police officers.
His pleas of not guilty to those offences were accepted by the Crown.
Sentence at Airdrie Sheriff Court was deferred until April 13 and McGowan was released on bail meantime.
The sheriff said: “You have a bit of a recent history and I will be calling for reports for sheriffs to consider sentence.”
McGowan, who was accompanied by family and friends, left court without making any comment.
