A local Good Samaritan has begun fixing cars damaged in vandalism last weekend for free.
Tommy Magill, who founded Obsession Car Detailing just three weeks ago, has already repaired two of the vehicles affected and is appealing to other victims to get in touch.
Corrosive adhesive foam was sprayed over at least six vehicles parked in Ellengowan Drive last weekend.
“I just don’t know how I’m going to be able to get this stuff off. It is incredibly annoying,” said one resident whose car was targeted.
However, Mr Magill has now come to the victims’ rescue.
“I was reading about the vandalism in The Courier and was shocked,” he said. “As I read down, I saw a woman say that she had no idea how to get the foam off and I thought ‘I know how to get that off’.”
However, Mr Magill is offering all the repair work for free, with any compensation grateful people want to give being donated straight to Maggie’s Centre.
One resident described how Mr Magill brought his car back to life after the vandalism.
“My wife’s car was one of the vehicles damaged in the vandalism,” said the man, who did not want to give his name. “Tommy just came to my door and offered to repair it for free I was amazed.
“I took him over to the car, which had damage to the back door and back panels. I had tried everything to get the foam off but it just wouldn’t go.
“He spent about two hours working on the car and now it is looking absolutely great.”
Mr Magill was in the area again on Tuesday helping repair a BMW that had also been targeted in the attack.
He is now appealing for other victims to get in touch with him so he can repair their vehicles.
