Dundee United 1 Ross County 2 : Tangerines stunned by Staggies
ByNeil Robertson
Dundee United have now gone nine games without a win following this desperately disappointing defeat to a resurgent Ross County.
The Tangerines suffered an early setback when they conceded after just 12 minutes.
Martin Woods fired in a corner from the Ross County left and it was met with a bullet header from Jackson Irvine which flew past Rado Cierzniak in the United goal.
However, Jackie McNamara’s side drew level just eight minutes later.
The lively Aidan Connolly had embarked on a mazy run into the Staggies box and was barged to the ground by Marcus Fraser with referee Steven McLean pointing to the spot.
Nadir Ciftci stepped up to calmly fire home the penalty, sending County keeper Mark Brown the wrong way.
Jim McIntyre’s side came storming back in the second half, netting what proved to be the winner in the 72nd minute.
Filip Kiss swung a cross in from the right which was headed powerfully towards goal by Irvine. Cierzniak pulled off a superb stop but Raffaele De Vita pounced on the loose ball to rifle home.
