Stonehaven harbour could benefit from £3m funding boost

Stonehaven harbour could soon become better equipped to weather winter storms after a funding boost from the Scottish Government.
An extra £3 million has been made available for Scottish fishing harbours damaged by storms last year. The Maritime Rescue Institute in Stonehaven was forced to close after its vessels were badly damaged in the storms.
The cash injection was announced by the First Minister on a visit to Fraserburgh harbour.
He said: “The damage caused last year could be seen in harbours across Scotland, and many people still say it was the worst storm they can remember.
“The Scottish Government is working with a number of harbours to clarify the extent of support required to put right the damage caused by these storms and we have already made financial awards.”
