The grounds of a former school in Douglas have been recommended as the site of a Dundee community allotment project.
Dundee City Council’s environment committee will hear on Monday that the former Douglas Primary grounds could be transformed by the Douglas Community Spaces Group.
Councillors are being asked to approve £26,000 of spending for fencing, planters, a shed and paths.
The area would be leased to the group for the project.
Last year three pilot community growing schemes were approved for areas of deprivation.
Councillors were told then that the ability for people to grow their own fruit, vegetables and flowers provides health, community safety and regeneration benefits.
Environment convener Craig Melville said: “I am delighted to see that real progress is being made towards a community allotment in Douglas.
“The proposed infrastructure works will help the group to get their plans off the ground.
“I am keen that people in Dundee get the chance to enjoy positive gains from using currently unused land to grow.”
