A man whose driving alarmed pedestrians so much that they alerted police was found to be more than five times the drink-driving limit.
People in Dundee city centre saw the man’s car “juddering along as if it was in the wrong gear” then swerving across the road and into the wrong lane.
The man drove off, but police traced him a short time later.
Keith Sinclair, 53, of Morlich Gardens, was breathalysed and taken to police HQ in Bell Street where a second test showed the reading to be 184 mics. The legal limit is 35 mics.
Sinclair admitted the offence, which happened on December 8 at East Marketgait and Dock Street.
Depute fiscal Eilidh Robertson told the court members of the public were in East Marketgait at 4pm that day and were alarmed by the man’s driving.
Sheriff George Way said: “I didn’t know you could have a reading like that and still stand.”
Sentence was deferred for reports and Sinclair was granted bail until March 24.
