Referee Craig Thomson sends off Dundee Utd's Paul Paton.
As expected, Dundee United are attempting to over-turn Paul Paton’s controversial red card against Celtic on Sunday.
The Tannadice club have, however, decided not challenge the ordering off of team-mate Paul Dixon.
A club statement read: “Dundee United confirms that it has submitted an appeal to the Scottish FA relating to the dismissal of midfielder Paul Paton during the William Hill Scottish Cup quarter final versus Celtic on Sunday.
“The club will not be appealing defender Paul Dixon’s sending off in the same game and understand Paul will now miss the quarter final replay between the teams on Wednesday 18th March.”
It remains to be seen if the SFA’s compliance officer decides to take retrospective action against any United or Celtic players following the incident-packed Tannadice draw.
