A Fife man accused of assaulting a woman, taking a car and driving on Dundee streets while disqualified has appeared in private.
Robert Allan Brown, 27, of Dover Heights, Dunfermline, appeared on a petition alleging eight charges all relating to an incident on Sunday.
He is accused of assaulting a woman by pushing her off a chair, punching her in the face and repeatedly spitting on her to her injury.
He is further accused of taking and driving away a car without consent, driving it on public roads including Dunmore Street and Derwent Avenue, Dundee, while disqualified and without insurance.
Another charge alleges he drove without due care or consideration for other road users and collided with a parked car.
He also faces charges of failing to give a breath test, both at the side of the road and later at police headquarters, as well as possession of a knife.
The case against him was continued for further examination and he was remanded in custody in the meantime.
