Man dies after crashing van into wall in Kilmarnock

A man has died in hospital after crashing his van into a wall.
The 50-year-old was driving a Peugeot van at around 3.50pm on Monday in Lawson Street, Kilmarnock, when the accident happened.
The man, who may have fallen ill at the wheel, was taken to the town’s Crosshouse Hospital but died a short time later, police said. No one else was injured in the accident.
Inspector Drew Robertson said: “At this time we are trying to establish what happened and I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Lawson Street, Kilmarnock on the afternoon of Monday September 2 and witnessed this incident to come forward.
“Any person with information is asked to telephone road policing at Irvine on non-emergency number 101.”
A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
