Perthshire conman used mobile phone to break internet ban
ByThe Courier Reporter
A Perthshire conman likened to Leonardo Di Caprio’s character in the film Catch Me If You Can has been ordered to do 80 hours of unpaid work after ignoring an internet ban.
Reece Scobie, 22, was compared to fraudster Frank Abagnale Jr from the hit film when he was sentenced to 16 months in 2013 after duping travel agents out of more than £70,000 to fly around the world to stay in top hotels.
Scobie, of Flower of Monorgan Close, Perth, admitted having and using a mobile phone capable of accessing the internet on a number of occasions between February 8 and February 24 without disclosing to police he had possession of the device until he had disposed of it.
