Brechin 2 Aberdeen 8: Makeshift City swept aside by ruthless Dons
ByThe Courier Reporter
Aberdeen's Adam Rooney scored a hat-trick for his side.
Darren Dods’ Brechin City, with 14 trialists in their squad of 21, were swept aside by Aberdeen at Glebe Park as the Dons warmed up for next week’s Europa League qualifier in Macedonia.
The visitors were ruthless against the League 1 team in front of a crowd of over 1,200 on Dods’ debut in charge.
With only two matches to prepare his side for the qualifier aginst Shkendija in Skopje next week, Dons manager Derek McInnes named a strong team.
And his team turned in an efficient performance with last season’s top scorer Adam Rooney notching a hat-trick.
The Dons other goals came from new captain Ryan Jack, Peter Pawlett, Shay Logan, Jonny Hayes and Michael Rose.
Andy Jackson and Robert Thomson netted City’s goals while Calum Tapping saw his penalty kick saved by the feet of Aberdeen goalkeeper Scott Brown.
