Ninewells Hospital to get £40 million funding boost
ByKieran Andrews
A specialist surgery centre will be set up at Ninewells Hospital through a £40 million funding boost, Nicola Sturgeon will announce.
In a bid to cope with an aging population, the First Minister will outline plans to transform NHS Tayside’s ability to carry out the likes of cataract procedures and hip and knee replacements locally.
It will be one of five hospitals to be transformed to extend work currently carried out at the Jubilee in Clydebank.
Ms Sturgeon will tell the SNP conference: “I can announce today that over the next parliament, we will invest £200 million to create a new network of elective treatment centres.”
