Dundee City Council staff will be given a day off next year to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. The council’s policy and resources committee has agreed to grant staff an extra day of leave to mark the occasion on June 5. Employees will have to apply for the day off beforehand, with council offices remaining open to the public on the day. Those unable to secure time off on jubilee day will receive a day off in lieu at another point in the year. Schools in the city are also set to close, subject to the approval of an application to Scottish ministers for exceptional school closure. The decision was made by the committee members having considered advice from COSLA.
