A much-loved pet dog came close to death after a rubber ball became lodged in her throat. Frantic owner Tina Gilogly feared that German shepherd Mia would die at her feet on Tentsmuir Beach as she battled in vain to remove the toy. However, a small hole through the middle of the ball let in just enough air to keep Mia breathing until she could reach a vet. Now Tina, from Wormit, has issued a warning to other dog owners not to give their pets a ball unless it contains a similar hole. “I want people to be aware that if it was a normal ball without a hole in it, Mia wouldn’t have made it off the beach,” she said.
