A London cabbie added his backing to The Courier’s campaign for fairer fuel as it was handed over to Downing Street.
Martin Owen who has driven one of London’s iconic black taxis for 13 years pledged his support just before the 10,000-strong petition was presented to Prime Minister David Cameron.
Illustrating that rocketing fuel prices is an issue across the UK, the 54-year-old said it was “great” the newspaper was taking action.
“It has just been getting harder and harder for us to make a living,” he said. “People are really hurting as the prices keep going up and up, meaning we make less and less money.
“I understand the prices are even higher in Scotland, so I can only imagine how it is up north. It is clear that the government needs to act quickly.”
