Police probe lobster creels theft at Stonehaven Harbour

Police officers in Stonehaven have appealed for witnesses after 30 lobster creels, valued at a low four-figure sum, were stolen from the harbour area.

The theft happened overnight between Thursday and Friday and police said that a large van or open backed vehicle would have been used to remove them.

PC Andrew Adam from the Stonehaven Police Office said: “Thefts of this kind can often be directly linked to people’s livelihoods and as such have an impact on the local community.

“I would ask members of the public to contact Police Scotland via the 101 number if they have any information in relation to this theft or if they were in the harbour area on Thursday night and saw anything suspicious. As well as the 101 number, people can contact Police Scotland anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
